This position will be for January 2025 to May 2025, up to 11 hours a week for 13 weeks.

ABOUT THE POSITION
Position Summary
The person in this position will help analyze a set of data about student learning outcomes in the undergraduate curriculum at the University of Minnesota with particular attention to the critical thinking outcome (can locate and critically evaluate information). This person will work with the director of Student Experience, Learning, and Accessibility on this project and help create data visualizations, reports, and presentations on where information literacy appears in the undergraduate curriculum. Working with the director of SELA and others, this person will also develop broad recommendations on priorities for curricular integration based on the student learning outcomes data and previous studies of the undergraduate curriculum. Please note current University of Minnesota graduate students are not eligible for this position.

Responsibilities
Student Learning Outcome Content Analysis Research (50%)
Develop research questions and methods to understand the presence of the critical thinking outcome in the undergraduate curriculum in a data set of currently active courses
Map the critical thinking outcome across the curriculum
Explore where information literacy skills are an outcome when critical thinking is not a stated outcome
Examine enrollment in courses and relationship to critical thinking outcome
Examine Liberal Education (general education) requirements and relationship to critical thinking outcome
Examine Writing Intensive courses and relationship to critical thinking outcome

Data Visualization (20%)
Create easily digestible data visualizations and infographics about where the critical thinking outcome appears in the curriculum
Create data visualizations of the connections between the critical thinking outcome and other factors (such as enrollment, Liberal Education requirement, Writing Intensive)

Presentation of Research and Recommendations (20%)
Develop slide shows to tell the story of the research and recommendations
Present research and recommendations to Libraries leadership

Professional Development (10%)
Engage with professional guidelines on curricular integration of information literacy

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications
Familiarity with analyzing data in spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets)
Ability to work extensively with large amounts of text data
Bachelor's degree
Not currently an enrolled University of Minnesota graduate student.

Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience with or interest in studying learning in higher education
Experience with content analysis or related research methodologies
Experience with data visualization
Current enrollment in a graduate program in library science or education studies

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $25.00/ hourly; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
