POSITION SUMMARY

To provide maximum ticket security by ensuring each boarding skier/snowboarder has a valid ticket according to time, day, and proper lift. Create a positive and courteous atmosphere for the guests. Provide an active and efficient flow of guests through the lift corral.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • To inspect and scan each guest ticket or season pass, including all types of tickets, offsite tickets, and all types of season passes. Also responsible for the skier count.
  • To establish and monitor a safe, consistent flow of skiers/snowboarders through the lift corral and to the lift.
  • Foster excellent guest relations by attempting to use the guests name from their pass. To communicate and make quick decisions and be a source of knowledgeable information in dealing with guest needs or questions as they arise.
  • To maintain a positive attitude in dealing with the physical and mental demands of working conditions: over various types of tickets and passes, irate guests, keeping a consistent flow of skiers to the lift, adverse weather, shoveling, education of beginners, and standing on feet for up to 8 hours at a time..
  • Asist with daily maze set up and break down.
  • Open and close maze lanes as needed for maximum traffic flow.
  • Assist with maze orchestration.
  • Be responsible for use and storage of all scanning equipment.
  • Understand and communicate the products and services available at Snowshoe and how they affect revenue and costs.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma or proven ability to read, write, perform basic mathematical functions, and aptitude to learn/use computer system(s).

Experience: Successful completion of Ticket Scanning Training and Department orientation/training sessions.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Attend Ticket Scanning Training within two weeks of hire
  • Must be able to hear scanner response beeps.
  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Any Intrawest employee or volunteer who operates a company vehicle including cars, trucks, snowcats, snowmobiles, or heavy equipment is required to comply with the Intrawest Driver's Standards Policy. This policy also applies to employees or volunteers driving their personal vehicles for company business more than four times per month, averaging 30+ miles per trip. All drivers should receive a full copy of the Intrawest Driver's Standards Policy; if you have not - please contact your Risk/Safety or HR/EE Department.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Any employee or volunteer who operates a company vehicle including cars, trucks, snowcats, snowmobiles, or heavy equipment is required to comply with the Driver's Standards Policy. This policy also applies to employees or volunteers driving their personal vehicles for company business more than four times per month, averaging 30+ miles per trip. All drivers should receive a full copy of the Alterra Driver's Standards Policy; if you have not - please contact your Risk/Safety or HR/EE Department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Incumbent will be required to work a flexible schedule which may include early mornings, late evenings, and or weekends/holidays. Weather patterns will play a role in work schedules.


Mountain Environment:
  • The primary physical environment in which this position works is out of doors with a high exposure level to cold, snow, wind, rain, bugs, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, lightning, etc...
  • The degree of strenuous activity within the job is considered to be high. Often lifting a weight of 50 pounds throughout the day is common and occasionally lift and or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with heavy tools or equipment.
  • Exposure to: Chemicals required for cleaning, de-greasing, and painting Ultra Violet radiation from the sun enhanced through lack of atmospheric filtration at work altitude. Fumes produced in activities ranging from cleaning to painting to fabrication of metal products. Noise generated by snowmobiles, lift equipment, and tools may require hearing protection to be worn.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.

With the evolution of Snowshoe Resort, the responsibilities of this position may change as may the dates associated with many of the tasks. During these times of change, this position requires the flexibility and willingness to accept new responsibilities and potentially transfer others.
