JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The research team at Penn State Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our highly productive team in the role of Research Nurse Interventionist. The Nese College of Nursing is large and diverse, with an extensive research portfolio, as well as numerous collaborations and partnerships on and off-campus.

We are hiring a Research Nurse Interventionist for a study testing a multi-component intervention to support staff in everyday care and communication with residents with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) in assisted living (AL) settings. The Research Nurse Interventionist will be responsible for intervention delivery which will include stakeholder engagement and education and coaching of AL staff. The Nurse Interventionist will also conduct assessments as a part of the intervention delivery. The intervention activities will be primarily on-site in four assisted living (AL) communities in central Pennsylvania with other study activities, including study team meetings virtual. The on-site intervention activities are projected to begin in spring 2025 during which the Research Nurse Interventionist will need to travel to study sites (i.e., ALs) located around Harrisburg and Hershey, as well as other nearby locations in central PA as needed. The intervention is scheduled for six-month period.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

The Research Nurse Interventionist plans, develops, and maintains procedures, equipment, and policies that have an impact in all facets of behavioral and clinical research in the long-term care environment under the direction of Dr. Anju Paudel PhD, MGS, RN. The specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Deliver and monitor monthly intervention at clinical sites in-person.
  • Coordinate with clinical sites and schedule on-site visits for intervention.
  • Develop ways for collaborative engagement with stakeholders at clinical sites.
  • Lead stakeholder meetings, education sessions and schedule monthly follow-up visits.
  • Prepare informative and educational tidbits related to intervention.
  • Communicate with study team, stakeholders, and research participants.
  • Attend scheduled team meetings.
  • Collect and enter information into data management systems as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with study protocols.
  • Facilitate data collection in REDCap and maintain data protection and quality.
  • Assist in recruitment, screening, and consent process for research participants as needed and participate in other research-related activities as delegated.
  • May need to receive COVID-19 tests on regular basis as required by clinical sites or policy of university and government.

Qualification and Requirements:

  • Must have a an Associate or Bachelor's degree in nursing, and an active and unencumbered RN license in PA.
  • Must have completed the COVID-19 and/or other vaccination at least 2 weeks prior to employment or as required by clinical research sites.
  • Must have exemplary computer skills in MS Office, including Word and Excel. Experience with survey tools such as REDCap is also highly considered.
  • Complete human subject training as directed.
  • Be able to work collaboratively with the PI, the research team and research participants.
  • Individuals with effective communication skills and experience working with long-term care staff and older adults with ADRD preferred.
