Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Instructional Technology Specialist for the Institute for Families.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Serves as member of the learning and development team responsible for the design and development of engaging courses, modules, and materials using a variety of innovative instructional technologies.
  • Creates learning products that may include synchronous online classes, hybrid/blended learning experiences, interactive asynchronous e-learning, microlearning, videos, webinars, screencasts, job aides, simulation, and resource materials.
  • Utilizes the ADDIE model of course development-from participating in the initial needs assessment through the design, development, rollout, and review of evaluation summaries for all finished courses.
  • Develops content for online learning experiences, transfer existing in-person course content to the online platforms as needed.
  • Provides assistance to colleagues seeking the use of instructional technology to enhance teaching and learning.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, curriculum development, instructional technology, communication, or a related educational field.
  • Two (2) years of related experience.

Certifications/Licenses
  • A valid driver's license would be required for this position; Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of learning and instructional theories and their applications as well as emerging technologies.
  • Proficiency in e-Learning rapid authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline 360 and Adobe Captivate as well as instructional technology AV, recording equipment, and multimedia editing tools such as Camtasia, Audacity, Ocenaudio, Power Director, etc.
  • Ability to produce, test, and troubleshoot SCORM compliant materials.
  • Ability to develop learning objects that are compatible with specifications of learning management systems-including Canvas and eCollege-and troubleshoot issues in compatibility.
  • Ability to assist with facilitation of focus groups and present instructional materials to internal and external stakeholders, effectively communicate technical information to a nontechnical audience, and establish cooperative working relationships with staff, clients, and SMEs.
  • Ability to develop learning objects that are compatible with specifications of learning management systems-including Canvas and eCollege-and troubleshoot issues in compatibility.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with staff from diverse backgrounds and perspectives and guide their use of technology in a variety of learning capacities.
  • Open, timely, and consistent communication with the supervisor.
  • Ability to escalate issues in a timely fashion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of experience.
  • Knowledge of requirements related to instructional technology for ADA compliance.
  • Familiarity with the boundaries of copyright and Fair Use guidelines.

Equipment Utilized

  • Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook.
  • Articulate Storyline 360 or Adobe Captivate.
  • Audacity.
  • Ocenaudio.
  • Power Director, etc.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • General office environment including light lifting and document preparation.
  • Travel throughout New Jersey is required as needed.
