Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Summer Ventures Residential Staff is responsible for overseeing the safety and behavior of the Summer Ventures students (ages 16 - 17) in a residential setting. Residential staff must live in the residential hall for the duration of the position. Staff will organize and lead educational, recreational, and life-skill activities for individual and group participation. Residential staff will ensure students adhere to their academic schedules and maintain a safe and healthy environment in the residential hall.

Duties include:

  • Supervising students during meals, free time, activities, and transitions on campus.
  • Enforcement of the student code of conduct.
  • Conflict resolution between students.
  • Leading and developing evening programming and recreational activities.
  • May be required to supervise and document students taking personal medications.
  • Communicating with students, parents, and other staff.


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Completion of 2 years toward a bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • First Aid and CPR Certification (certification must be obtained by June 16, 2025)
  • Valid driver's license


Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Completion of a bachelor's or master's degree
  • Experience in completing a research project in STEM.
  • Housing and residence life experience involving children or young adults.

Required Certifications or Licensure

  • First Aid and CPR Certification (certification must be obtained by June 16, 2025)
  • Valid driver's license


Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
College/School Information
Work Hours Monday - Friday 7:00am - 8:15am and 3:45pm - 11:00pm, Saturday & Sunday 9:00am - 11:00pm
Work Days Saturday - Sunday
Hours Per Week 45 hours per week for Monday - Friday and 2 working weekends with ~40 hours of overtime Saturday and Sunday.
Type of Position
Anticipated Hiring Range $14.00 - $17.00/hour

Please note: this is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department needs with the possibility of continuation. Employees in temporary positions are not considered permanent state employees and do not earn leave. Temporary employees are subject to the Affordable Care Act guidelines.

Pay varies by position and is based on qualifications, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Additional compensation includes housing and some meals when working.
