University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis is looking for a proactive, organized, and dedicated Student Success Advisor to champion student success and retention through academic advising. This role involves building strong relationships with students, assisting them in meeting their academic, co-curricular, and career goals, and supporting their overall personal and professional development. You will have the opportunity to:
  • In collaboration with faculty and staff liaisons, maintain expertise on multiple degrees, basics of course offerings, and academic standards.
  • Serve as the touchpoint for incoming students and their families in completing necessary steps to ensure a smooth transition to the institution.
  • Through multiple meetings during the semester, provide holistic professional and personal support to advisees, focusing on academic planning, career exploration, goal setting, personal growth, and pathways to degree completion.
  • Manage, monitor, and utilize available early alert systems to create and implement intervention strategies and resolve student issues.
  • Work in collaboration with other support staff to connect students with services such as counseling, career services, tutoring, financial aid, etc.
  • Facilitate formal connection to new faculty advisors for upper level advising.
  • Serve on University and College committees and work collaboratively with key areas to support recruitment, persistence, and graduation initiatives.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the Dean's and Registrar's Offices, to support students and stay in tune with policies and procedures.
  • Utilize assessment to determine advising program strengths and areas of improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field with at least one year of experience in advising, coaching, or counseling from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is required.
  • Master's degree in higher education, counseling, or related field with experience in advising, coaching, or counseling preferred.
  • Exceptional time management and organization skills
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
  • High level of detail orientation
  • Demonstrated commitment to students with diverse backgrounds
  • Team-oriented personality
  • Ability to empathetically build rapport with students and effectively address their concerns
  • Flexibility and the ability to be calm under pressure
