About the Role

As the Computer Engineering Co-Op, focusing on Industry 4.0, you will serve the world's leading companies in various industries by using data to help improve their thermal system performance. You will actively collaborate with internal subject matter experts while expanding Watlow's technical capability. Work with a team on challenging opportunities to solve problems related to connectivity, data management, analytics, algorithms, and visualization.

You will be involved in the process of designing, building, testing, and deploying solution architectures. In this role you would be located at our St. Louis, Missouri site as a member of the Technical Development Organization.

The co-op program is a 6-8 month commitment for current students to take a semester off of classes to work and apply classroom theory at a Watlow advanced development center.

Your Key Responsibilities



  • Assist in the set up and management of infrastructure using Infrastructure as code tools.
  • Work with micro application infrastructure.
  • Development of web APIs for internal and external development use.
  • Applying and developing dev ops best practices.
  • Collaboration with teams to support proper data collection.
  • Work with subject matter experts to gain and apply knowledge.
  • Learn & stay current on Internet of Things (IOT) developments, news, opportunities, and challenges.
  • Explore and research new technology and industry trends, make recommendations.
  • Document learnings and share with the team.
  • Flexible to work different projects as priorities and business needs change.
  • Work in team environment, excellent communication, and collaboration skills.



Required Qualifications



  • Currently pursuing a degree in computer engineering, computer science, information technology or a related degree
  • Must be at sophomore status by the start of the co-op
  • Available to start by January 2025
  • Available to take 6-8 months from school to work at a Watlow facility
  • Able to relocate to a Watlow location for the duration of your co-op. Housing stipend will be provided. Candidates will be based at St. Louis, Missouri.



Desired Qualifications

An ideal candidate will possess 3-4 of the following traits.



  • Experience in code development using python or similar languages.
  • Familiarity with data Lakehouse architecture and deployment.
  • Experience with cloud databases and computing tools (Azure, AWS)
  • Familiarity with querying databases
  • Interest in Industry 4.0/IoT/smart factory/digital transformation
  • Natural curiosity and a strong passion for taking on new challenges and problem solving.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience in analytics; performing statistical analyses using tools such as R, Python, Minitab, etc.
  • Experience in Machine Learning/Deep Learning algorithm development and tools such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, etc.
  • Coursework in one or more of the following:


    • Data Management
    • NoSQL/SQL database management
    • Software development lifecycle
    • Cloud computing
    • Embedded computing
