Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer for our Process Engineering and Design Practice in our Pittsburgh, PA office. In this position, you will dig into the details of process engineering and mechanical design in the water and wastewater field, working closely with industry-recognized professionals, while further developing the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Participate as key team member on large- and small-scale design projects;
• Water and wastewater conveyance and treatment plant mechanical designs;
• Preparation of process and instrumentation diagrams and functional narratives;
• Pipe, pump, and valve selection for process designs;
• Engineering analyses such as: planning studies, engineering studies, hydraulic modeling, equipment sizing, specification, and selection;
• Preparation of engineering design drawings and specifications for water, wastewater, groundwater and stormwater treatment facilities;
• Mentor and support early-career staff on small- to medium-scale designs;
• Management of small- to medium-scale design projects;
• Fieldwork associated with design and construction services;
• Data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures; and
• Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, and proposals.
• Training: This position requires health and safety, first aid, CPR, and other training, as well as medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our employees to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
• Fieldwork: Up to 30%
• Overnight travel: Up to 30%

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related subject. (required)
• Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
• E.I.T. Certification. (preferred)
• P.E. License or capability to obtain P.E. License within one year (preferred)

• At least 5 years (7+ preferred) of progressive experience in mechanical/process design work or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
• Prior experience in engineering consulting. (preferred)
• Prior experience in project management. (preferred)
• Experience with modeling/design tools such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, WaterGEMS. (preferred)
• Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
