Smartsheet is looking for a proven Large Enterprise Solutions Engineer who will provide technical leadership throughout the sales process. We are a fast growing, high revenue-growth Software as a Service (SaaS) company that is changing the way teams and organizations manage and coordinate work. We are looking for motivated and intelligent individuals. This high profile role is part of the Large Enterprise Solutions Engineering team and reports to the Director, Solutions Engineering Operations.

You Will:



  • Provide security/cyber security information and guidance as the Smartsheet subject matter expert to prospects, as well as current executive leadership and current customers.
  • Represent Smartsheet's security and compliance capabilities to prospects in multi-month engagements and full cycle assessments ; proactively support prospects in performing evaluations; ensure that prospects keep to their security evaluation scope and timelines
  • Partner with sales executives and customer excellence by owning the security evaluation process in support of selling Smartsheet's SaaS platform to prospects and F-5000 customers.
  • Be a recognized Smartsheet security expert and develop relationships with key stakeholders in the relevant customer and partner groups associated with SaaS Security and Compliance standards, policies and practices.
  • Serve as front-line expert for "best practice" and prospect security issues, tracking these issues and ensuring prompt follow up.
  • Work closely with product management and operations as the customer advocate on security and administration feature requests
  • Provide support for preparing security responses, FAQs, knowledge base and case support entries; help define "best practices" for broad usage across large enterprises
  • Occasionally travel to customer sites, serving as a technical resource to sales staff, as well as engaging with customer IT professionals regarding integration and data questions
  • Assist Sales team on delivering on sales targets.
  • Other duties as assigned.


You Have:



  • Software, preferably SaaS, technical pre-sales (SE) or technical sales experience
  • 5+ years experience as a Sales Engineer or relevant security position in SaaS, cyber security, and/or enterprise software
  • Experience working through difficult discussions with customers who are passionate about their security controls.
  • Deep understanding of the security compliance issues faced using cloud based SaaS.
  • Familiarity with SOC2 report formats and existing generally accepted security baselines and standards (e.g. CIS, NIST,FedRAMP, ISO, PCIDSS, OWASP, HIPAA...)
  • Ability to understand and map third party security baselines to internal implementations.
  • Experience participating in a complex, solution-based enterprise sales process
  • Experience managing customer Security Assessments or RFPs/RFIs
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high growth software company where change is a constant
  • Willing to travel periodically based on customer and business need (less than 10%)
  • Currently have or working to obtain CISSP/CISA or GIAC GSEC
  • Nice to have in addition: CCSP/CCSK, SSCP or other industry standard security certifications.
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, presentation), with the ability to explain complex solutions to technical and non-technical end user personnel in large enterprises
  • Passion for working with leading edge, web-based technologies and a desire to expertly demonstrate Smartsheet's functionality, use cases, governance controls, and compliance functionality for customers at any stage in their Smartsheet journey.

Smartsheet provides a competitive base salary range for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive incentive opportunity and some roles may be eligible for a RSU stock grant upon accepted offer.

US Pay Range
$117,500 $142,500 USD
