Assistant Teaching Professor Position in Healthcare Administration

The Health and Society Program and the Department of Economics in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor position in Healthcare Administration starting in September 2025. The successful candidate may teach courses such as Health Economics, a senior capstone course on Healthcare Administration, and other upper-level electives in areas of health. The candidate will teach a 4:4 load, approximately two thirds of the workload will be in the Health and Society Program, and one third in the Economics Department Healthcare Administration Program. This is a 9-month, non-tenure-track position with primary responsibilities for undergraduate and graduate classroom and online instruction, undergraduate advising, and university service. Initial appointment is for two years, with possibility of renewal and continuous appointment.

UMass Dartmouth is in the beautiful ocean side community of Dartmouth, about an hour south of Boston, half-hour east of Providence, and half-hour west of Cape Cod. Duties:

It is expected the successful candidate will be an engaging and effective teacher with a strong commitment to student learning and success. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in supporting both the Health and Society program and the Healthcare Administration program, implementing inclusive and evidence-based teaching and learning approaches to ensure the academic success of a diverse population of students; collaborating with faculty to enhance curriculum; providing academic advising; and participating in university service activities.

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Candidates must have a PhD in economics, health economics, or a closely related field at the time of employment
  • Candidates must have teaching experience in healthcare administration and health economics, with evidence of their teaching effectiveness
