Department Information

Georgia Tech Commercialization plays a vital role in transforming the university's groundbreaking research into impactful real-world solutions. It operates through four key units:

CREATE-X: Empowers student entrepreneurship through mentorship, experiential learning, and startup creation.

VentureLab: Supports faculty and staff in launching startups based on innovative research and technologies.

Quadrant-i (Q-i): Focuses on accelerating the commercialization of Georgia Tech's intellectual property through startups and spinouts.

Technology Licensing: Facilitates partnerships and licensing agreements to bring technologies to market effectively.

Together, these units foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and impactful commercialization efforts.

Job Summary

The Event Coordinator III will play a crucial role in the operation of internal and campus group facility reservations and assist with external events as needed. This position is responsible for the management of indoor and outdoor recreation spaces related to events, working with on campus entities, coordinating all event logistics including audio and video (A/V), entertainment, security, custodial, catering, etc. Ideally, this new position will include supervisory responsibilities, at least over student staff, and will involve financial duties such as managing P-Card transactions, making purchases, handling reconciliations, and monitoring event budgets.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Recruit, hire and train student event operations team to assist with event implementation and oversight

Job Duty 2 -
Review and develop policies and procedures that aid in successful event services for students and on-campus groups/departments. Will include outdoor/indoor facility reservations

Job Duty 3 -
Benchmark, evaluate, create or revise fees tied to facility space and equipment rentals

Job Duty 4 -
Provide oversight and implementation of student employee payroll policies and procedures

Job Duty 5 -
Create and implement policies and procedures for scheduling and events area that follow best practices on campus and allow for clients to easily understand expectations

Job Duty 6 -
Collaborate with Fire Marshal and GTPD. Enforce policies and procedures necessary for the safe and orderly use of facilities

Job Duty 7 -
Manage budget related to staffing and revenue expectations

Job Duty 8 -
Assist with external events as needed

Job Duty 9 -
Develop relationships on campus to arrange specific services (A/V, Custodial, Security, Catering, etc.) for internal/external events

Job Duty 10 -
Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Three to four years of job-related experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
The job requires occasional travel up to 10% or more of the time
Must be able to handle objects weighing up to 25 pounds or more

KNOWLEDGE
Working knowledge of events, volunteer, and budget management. Basic knowledge of AV set-up/design

SKILLS
o Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Smartsheet
o Proficiency with Event Management System (EMS)
o Organizational skills to effectively manage events from start to finish
o Leadership skills to hire, train and supervise team of student employees
o Interpersonal skills: Work effectively and collaboratively with various stakeholders
o Excellent verbal and written communication for liaising with departments and student groups
o Event planning and execution: Ability to create, lead, and execute campus events across different
locations

Salary Range or Pay Range: $55,029.00 to $74,841.00

Salary will be commensurate with experience and education

Due to the responsibilities of this position, this role requires an onsite presence on Georgia Techs Atlanta campus (100%).
