Repair Technician I - Lenexa, KS

Our Technicians perform surgical instrument and device inspection, repair, and refurbishment in a lab-based setting. This role delivers superior Customer Experience by providing timely and quality repairs to meet compliance standards in a production facility as part of a high performing team.

NO MEDICAL DEVICE EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! We will train you!

Hours: M-F 8:00am to 5:00pm

What You Will Do as a Repair Technician


  • You will performbasic to intermediate level repairs of surgical devices/instruments and equipment to specifications.



  • You will identifyproblems within the job role and usestandardized testing procedures; examineand testmechanisms for defects. Replaceor repairdefective parts. Requestparts from stock room.



  • You will reassemblesurgical devices or equipment and tests assembly for conformance to specifications.



  • You will identifyrisks and issues and escalatetimely and effectively.



  • You will handle customer requests andquoting.



  • You will complywith work schedules, established team standards and protocols to ensure a safe, productive and respectful work environment.

The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed

1. High School Diploma or GED

2. 2+ years of work experience, including at least 1 year of relevant experience*, or 1 year of experience at STERIS; all experience must be verifiable. (Related certifications in technical or mechanical area, competitive equipment training or related military experience may be considered towards experience requirement.)

3. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times and push instrument carts ranging from 10-150 pounds at times.

4. Good eye to hand coordination.

5. Ability to assemble small parts.

6. Attention to detail.

7. Displays Positive Attitude and Confidence.

8. Ability to understand repair concepts and follow sequencing or repairs.

9. Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, using appropriate communication channel in a professional manner at all times with internal and external Customers.

10. Expected to be able to work well with others in a team environment and support positive Customer interactions when onsite

*Relevant experience may include hands-on repair, assembly, or product testing and use of small hand tools is a plus. Small engine repair, cell phone and electronics repair, testing, or re-builds, carpentry, circuit board assembly and repair, sterile processing, industrial sewing, and jewelry repair. Maintenance, construction, and automotive repair can also be relevant to this role.
