Pay Rate/Range:The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $58,600 to $69,500/yr. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full salary range for this position is $58,600 to $100,800/yr.

Brief Summary of Job Duties:

The University of California (UC) hosts Reciprocity students from over 100 institutions in approximately 30 countries. Students are nominated by partner universities, under the provisions of specific contractual agreements, to attend one of the 10 University of California campuses for up to one academic year. Students remain enrolled at their home university while also enrolled as no-fee-exchange, non-degree at the host UC campus. Under the general supervision of the Reciprocity Student Services Manager, the incumbent coordinates access to academic resources for Reciprocity students from partner universities to ensure necessary progress toward their home institution degrees. Directs applications throughout the UC system, honoring the mandate of UCEAP for proportional campus distribution and respecting the integrity of a student's academic program as defined by the curriculum of the partner university.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Three or more years of experience in international education programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Skill in obtaining and conveying information clearly and with accuracy.
  • Interpersonal skills, multicultural competencies, and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and coordinate within a diverse, complex organization.
  • Technology skills as required for the job to include complex database management and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including MS Teams and SharePoint or equivalent.
  • Ability to apply and/or adapt current procedures to an increasingly automated environment.
  • Advanced ability to identify, reason through, and develop original ideas to resolve problems and interpret and apply policy.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize assignments to complete work in a timely manner. Skill in setting priorities that reflect the importance of job responsibilities adjusting them as circumstances change.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures, including UC.
  • Fluency in one or more languages in addition to English.
  • Master's Degree.

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • The UCEAP Systemwide Office is located in Goleta, CA (near the UCSB campus). Type of work arrangement eligibility: Hybrid. Job Functions and Percentages of Time:

50% Credential Evaluation and Advising - Researches and evaluates international academic credentials and equivalencies. Monitors students' academic progress at UC. Makes independent decisions affecting undergraduate applicants' admissions to the majority of UC campuses. Assesses incoming international applications for viability at each UC campus and department according to college/departmental prerequisites, course impaction, and curricular scope. Directs applications throughout the UC system to ensure proportional campus and department distribution according to college/departmental prerequisites, course impaction, and curricular scope. Advises Reciprocity students and partner university liaisons on course availability and access across the UC system. Develops and maintains comprehensive and current knowledge of goals and objectives of the Program (e.g., familiarity with UC/Partner Institution Agreements, current events, affecting the context of higher education throughout areas of UCEAP operations). Provides the Reciprocity Director with continuous feedback on the effect of policies and procedures based on contact with partner university liaisons, campus representatives and students.

45% Liaison - Collaborates with a broad spectrum of UC academic and administrative offices, and international staff to ensure prompt resolution of individual academic articulation situations and other areas as needed. Coordinates information flow between partner universities and campuses. Monitors Reciprocity students' academic progress during their stay at UC; identifies problem cases and confers with partner universities should there be indications of deeper structural problems of academic culture (such as, the sequence and focus of course work at the partner university and their correlation to UC coursework.) Mediates between campuses and partner university liaisons in emergencies involving welfare of Reciprocity students (e.g., emotional or medical crises). Interprets and articulates UC policies and procedures to partner universities. Explicates diverse international grade-assessment systems to campus offices and departments, edits and creates procedural guidelines. Contributes to campus staff' and partner university liaisons' orientations, and student information sessions and webinars.

5% Other Duties and Special Projects - Represents UCEAP in systemwide meetings and conferences, and in local, state and national conferences. Other duties and projects as assigned.
